About

Erik Jacobsen is a paper artist currently living in Brooklyn, NY. He uses paper to reimagine a world where classic household brands correspond to present day. As a member of the LGBTQ community, his art has allowed him to express his frustrations and personal reactions to the current political landscape in America. In his latest series, Food for Thought: A Nostalgic Paper Route, Erik demonstrates nostalgia for his early childhood with recreations of candy and food packaging.

By altering the packaging of established brands like Airheads and York Peppermint Patties, Erik highlights a loss of innocence, bringing social and political issues to light with a mischievous tone.

Erik Jacobsen (b. 1987) is a paper artist currently living in Jersey City, NJ. He uses paper to reimagine a world where classic household brands correspond to the present day. As a member of the LGBTQ community, his art has allowed him to express his frustrations and personal reactions to the current political landscape in America. Erik demonstrates nostalgia for his early childhood with recreations of candy and food packaging.

By altering the packaging of established brands like Airheads and York Peppermint Patties, Erik highlights a loss of innocence, bringing social and political issues to light with a mischievous tone.

As we reemerge from the Trump and early pandemic years, Erik is continuing to pursue new narratives within his work as it relates to decaying candy-coated values, American identity, pop culture, advancing technology, sexuality, and more.

Erik’s Paper Route’s work has been featured on the Travel Channel and printed in Washingtonian Magazine, OUT, Rockridge Press, and W42st Magazine.

Other Work
I also design book covers and interiors by day. I absolutely love conceptualizing ideas for new projects and distilling an entire book (or television show) into a singular graphic. Please check out my portfolio of book cover designs and entertainment key art marketing at ErikJacobsenDesigns.com
